Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). KCR was born on 17 February 1954 in Siddipet, Medak, Andhra Pradesh in Velama community. Frequently abbreviated KCR, is a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India. He represents the Mahaboobnagar constituency of Andhra Pradesh and is the president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. He is the Ex.cabinet minister for Labour and Employment. He was a member of the Telugu Desam Party and served as a minister until he resigned from the party.

He formed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for the cause of Telangana as a separate state. TRS fought the 2004 general elections in alliance with Congress. It was able to win 5 MP seats. TRS was part of the UPA coalition government led by Congress until it had withdrawn its support citing the reason that UPA was not in a mood to give nod for separate Telangana state. In 2009, it fought the general elections part of the opposition coalition.
